Boozy Britain Why?

     What is wrong with the social fabric of Britain. Highest levels of drunkenness, highest levels of teenage pregnancies, highest levels of drink related violence.  

     Britain has the highest level of drink related crime and the highest level of young and under aged drinkers in Europe. The cause of this is that young children are introduced to alcoholic drinks at too early an age, medical experts now say. So now they propose to ban younger children from taking any alcohol.

     What world are these so called experts living in?

      In Spain, France, Italy and most of continental Europe children are introduced to alcohol at an early age, and they have far less problems with alcohol than we do in Britain. So why is this? 

      The difference between these countries and Britain is that the children are introduced to alcohol in social family settings, a couple of drinks with a meal for instance. They also have strong family ties. This means children grow up with a respect for parents, teachers and authority, and a respect for alcohol. 

       You don't have to be an expert to see that what the problem is in Britain is a complete disintegration of family control of our children, and consequently a lack of respect towards family, or any authority. And these young people do not even have any respect for themselves.

       So what is the solution?

      Surely a start has to be made with the family. Parents no longer learn how to bring up children from their parents, and of course we get many problem children as a result. There is little help or training available for these parents, many of whom are in desperate need of help, because their children are beyond their control. The actions of government are tantamount to burying their heads in the sand. And Knee jerk draconian solutions will never provide a solution.

       Until there is help for families when the children are young, this problem is only going to get worse no matter how many young people we lock up.
